30in30 Information
This year's event begins on 5th May and ends the same day at the
Rocque to Rock on 3rd June.
The 30in30 Challenge is a fundraising event in support of the
charity Les Bourgs Hospice. In the last three years the 30in30 has
raised a total of £208,543.68 for Les Bourgs Hospice.
Each year Ian Brown's Cycle Shop invites 40 participants from a
cross section of Guernsey population to ride their bike for one
hour per day for 30 days and find 30 sponsors each for each
day.
You are challenged to ride your bike for one hour each day and
to try and secure 30 sponsors of £1 for each day and raise £900.
Obviously this is not the limit and any more would be very
welcome.
Ian Browns Cycle Shop organises and manages the event and
underwrites all of the expenses therefore 100% of the funds raised
go directly to Les Bourgs.
In order to generate further interest in the 30in30,
participants have come up with their own unique challenges. In 2008
one rider rode up and down the Val Des Terres 30 times in three
hours. In 2009 one rider cycled non stop for 30 hours and last year
a couple of riders have pledged to cycle up the equivalent of
30,000ft during their challenge. All the ideas from the
participants add to the interest and awareness of the event.
Regards
Ian
