Hannah’s Blog
Back

Hannah and James recently travelled to Germany to meet some of our key suppliers, hear about mobility and find products suited for Guernsey and customers locally.

Yesterday myself and James spent the day at the Riese & Müller GmbH#FutureForum in Mühltal.

The morning factory tour was a fantastic way to develop a deeper understanding of the production process and to see what happens behind the scenes after we place a custom order! It is clear that everyone is incredibly passionate about the work they do, and the company’s movement towards their goal of becoming the most sustainable bike manufacturer in Europe was highlighted through their use of solar power, recycled rain water & the sustainably sourced vegetarian diet adopted on site – not to mention the hundreds of electric bikes parked outside the factory that employees commute to work on!

The afternoon was filled with workshops and discussions led by futurologist Dr Stefan Carsten around building and improving urban mobility, and it was great to see how this has been implemented in cities across Europe. I think it will be really interesting to see how mobility will develop and improve in Guernsey over the coming years and how we can maximize our sustainability on island. If there was anything to take away from the day it is that any journey is more than manageable by bike….
