Ian’s passion for cycling began at 15-years-old. His local success lead him to represent Guernsey at two Commonwealth Games, and Great Britain on three occasions, including the seven-day Tour of Normandy.
Ian has reduced his shop hours in recent years, but still remains a crucial organiser of local charity successes; the Les Bourges 30/30 Cycle Challenge and Male Uprising Guernsey (MUG).
Paul, locally known as Dudley, won his first ever local Mountain Bike race in November 1995, and joined Ian Brown’s Cycle Shop in 1996.
James’ dedication and competitive nature has lead him to much success locally, nationally and internationally in Cross Country (XC) Mountain Bike racing.
James has represented Guernsey at 3 Commonwealth Games, and is a highly decorated Island Games competitor. During the previous 6 Games, James has collected over 15 medals, including 8 individual. His most recent successes include two Individual Silver medals in the Men’s XC, during Guernsey 2023.
Hannah joined the shop at 14 years old, originally as a student. Hannah’s expertise and knowledge has lead her to become a key contact for our Business Relationships and Riese & Muller sales.
As an accomplished cyclist herself, Hannah has competed in 2 Natwest International Island Games. In Guernsey 2023, Hannah earnt herself an Individual Gold Medal in the Women’s Time Trial, and Individual Silver in the Women’s Road Race. She remains highly competitive within local events, and is the Women’s record holder for the 5 mile and 10 mile Time Trial.
Joining the team as a works experience student in 1998, Steve has been working as a mechanic for Ian Brown’s Cycle Shop for over 25 years. Steve learnt his trade at Moullins Cycle Shop, and was deservingly promoted Workshop Manager in 2003. His time at the shop has equipped him with every trick in the book – so far, there has been no problem he can’t solve!
Steve also competed very successfully at downhill events locally in past years and is also a very accomplished BMX rider.
Phil joined the Workshop team in June 2021 and is our friendly front-of-house. Phil is a road bike enthusiast and style icon when it comes to eye-wear. As a highly valued member of the team, Phil plays an essential role in administration of the Workshop and managing our Warehouse. From service enquiries to warranty support, Phil is our workshop problem-solver.
Steve Horne has been riding bikes for as long as he can remember and is also a local BMX legend. Joining the team in June 2021, Steve has a special “finesse” for his work and is often found going above and beyond for customers. For advice on how to improve your style on a BMX or Mountain Bike, speak to Steve.
